WELCOME TO GHANA !
HOW TO WITH ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES – CHILDREN & ADULTS
Finding activities, besides sports, for children and us grown-ups might seem difficult in Accra but the capital city of Ghana offers many things to do besides school and work. The problem is the same, as always: finding out and communication; and that is where accraexpat comes in for you. This page explores activities related to the Arts, for us and our small ones.
The offering of dance and music classes in Accra has increased to a point where we have decided to separate them from this page. Please see "How To with dance and music classes". For languages courses, please see "How To learn languages (including local)".

The most consistent event as far as poetry in Accra is a session themed “Talk Party” that is held the last Sunday of the month at 530pm at the Nubuke Foundation. The program runs on schedule irrespective of any holidays (it is on even at Christmas). Find the listing in the Calendar of Events when an event is scheduled.
Poets get to share with, critique and perform for one another. After every third Talk Party, there is what is called the “Talk Party Plus” with an emphasis on performances rather than readings. The program is still growing and there is room for suggestions. As far as the setting, it is quite informal and arty: lots of murals, hanging lamps, a user-contributed outdoor bar and a small outdoor stage.
The main organizer for the Poetry session at the Nubuke Foundation is Martin - 0277 187 964.
Road directions: Nubuke Foundation is in East Legon, close to the Mensvic Grand Hotel - there are directional signs.
