Voices and Chronicles - An exhibition of the Aborigines Rights Protection Society of the Gold Coast.
Opening on 25 March @ Nubuke Foundation @ 10am
As part of the celebrations of the 60th year of Ghana’s independence, we bring focus on some of the compelling events from the 19th century that eventually culminated in the declaration of independence in 1957.
The actions of dedicated individuals- J.W Sey, Kobina Sekyi, Henry Van Hein, Willem Essuman Pietersonand others will demonstrate diverse efforts at the time. A walk through the exhibition hall promises to be informative and interactive.
Commemorating and celebrating the lives of selfless and bold individuals like JW Sey, John Mensah Sarbah, JW De Graft Johnson, Casely Heyford and others who in the latter years of the 19th century and early 20th century charted the course for the beginnings of the independence struggle in the Gold Coast.
Every citizen must be able to delve into and know intimately the citizens who individually and collectively came together to fight for national, political, traditional, economic and social rights of ordinary citizens who then lived under the Gold Coast colony.
A historic examination into people, events and stories with photography and other memorabilia. The public is invited to contribute information and family photos or anecdotes in the dynamic ancestry room.
We must celebrate these individuals and chiefs and learn from their examples, making them role models......
The exhibition runs till June 11.
