Holland and the world
Koningsdag or King's Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Celebrated on 27 April, the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander.
From 1890 to 2013, the day was known as Koninginnedag or Queen's Day. The holiday was first observed on 31 August 1885 as Prinsessedag or Princess's Day, the fifth birthday anniversary of Princess Wilhelmina, heiress to the Dutch throne.
King’s Day is the biggest national event in Holland. Everything and everyone turns orange and celebrates on King’s Day. You will find music shows, fairs, flea markets and parties throughout the country. Even the Dutch royal family goes on tour to be received by one or more Dutch towns for an entertainment-filled day.
The capital Amsterdam is transformed into the nation’s biggest orange party town.

A King's Day Reception will take place on 27th April. By invitation only.
